Meeting of the Experts’ Group on Recognition and Enforcement of Agreements in Family Matters

Meeting of the Experts’ Group on Recognition and Enforcement of Agreements in Family Matters

On 28 and 29 June 2018, the Experts’ Group on cross-border recognition and enforcement of agreements in family disputes involving children held its fourth meeting at the Permanent Bureau. The meeting was attended by 16 experts and members of the Permanent Bureau under the chairmanship of Professor Paul Beaumont from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland (UK).

The Experts’ Group completed its work on the Draft Practical Guide to Family Agreements under the Hague Conventions, taking into account the discussions on the shift of habitual residence following a non-return agreement which took place during the Seventh Meeting of the Special Commission on the 1980 and 1996 Hague Conventions in October 2017. The Experts’ Group also discussed the way forward for the Project on cross-border recognition and enforcement of agreements in family matters involving children.

The Conclusions & Recommendations of the Experts’ Group are available here. They will be presented to the Council at its March 2019 meeting.
